For each jobsite the free lookup shows: the address and borough, the work type, the last permit date, and the NYC data source (labeled by dataset). Permits expiring within 30 days are flagged in the results. A free account adds continuous monitoring so you receive an alert when a stop-work order appears, a complaint is filed, or a permit nears expiry at any of your watched jobsites. Which license numbers does FlagHound recognize?
NYC DOB license numbers in any common format: two letters followed by digits (for example MP-12345 or GC-98765), or the raw digit string without a prefix. Enter the number as it appears on your license card or in DOB NOW; FlagHound normalizes common formatting variations. Supported trade categories include HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, fire suppression, and general contractor.
Is my DOB permit expired?
FlagHound shows the permit status from NYC Open Data as of the last data refresh, labeled with the source dataset (DOB NOW Permits or DOB NOW Job Application Filings). Permit status in the open data reflects what NYC has processed; check DOB NOW directly for the most current record before relying on permit status for active work.

Where does the data come from?
NYC Open Data, labeled by dataset: DOB NOW Job Application Filings (dataset w9ak-ipjd) for job filings, and DOB NOW Approved Permits (dataset rbx6-tga4) for permit records. Stop-work orders come from the DOB Buildings Information System (BIS). Every item in FlagHound shows which dataset it came from. The data is public and updated on a rolling schedule by the NYC Department of Buildings.
